What Happens in Vegas . . .

First and foremost, for those of you affected by the hurricanes in Houston, Florida and Georgia, we missed you! Secondly, if you were not able to attend the show, we missed you too! Whilst Asha and I were in Las Vegas for the show, we were happy to provide our home for 16 people whom had to evacuate – 5 people were relatives (family) and 11 were ARCSI members (family). I say this not to impress you, but to impress upon you that ARCSI has a heart and the mindset to help others.

 

The 2017 Show is one of the ways we help each other. Our Show Committee, led by Amy Wiggs King, volunteered their time and talents to put together a great educational forums as well as networking opportunities. Thank you Amy and Committee!

 

Last October, the ARCSI membership voted by 98% to merge with the ISSA. When associations merge, previously separate groups of people must join forces and work together. This fusion of work styles, office traditions, and organizational structures, and cultures both critical to the success of a merger and the hardest to navigate. And all this was accomplished last year to benefit the members of the associations. Let’s all take a moment to congratulate the ISSA and ARCSI staff for working to make this transition happen so smoothly! Is everything perfect? As a business owner I have learned there is no ONE thought that can be labeled “PERFECT”! Therefore, we can measure the progress from 2016 and see if we are headed in the right direction or not!

Another visible difference was the Residential Cleaners Pavilion. Our industry partners and we were placed in one area which showed strength in numbers. It was nice when groups came by the Pavilion periodically and took notice of our presence. Thank you ISSA and to all our partners!

Another Show in the Books!

Another ISSA/INTERCLEAN has come to a close. This marks the first year that ARCSI, A Division of ISSA was an official part of the Show. And we were proud to be there!

 

The evaluations were once again overwhelmingly positive, with attendees raving about the education offerings. Thank you to all of our speakers whose commitment to excellence was evident in the time they took to prepare for this event. We couldn’t be more proud of the Residential Cleaning Connection track that was available at this year’s show.

 

One first-time attendee shared with us that this event has already had an impact on their business and they hadn’t even left the show yet!

 

As RJ Patel, the chair of the ISSA Residential Cleaning Council in closing the Residential Cleaning Connection’s last session, “Since Sunday, we have been able to network with each other and attend many sessions. I hope this time has provided knowledge and information that you can take back with you.”

 

Plans are already underway for the 2018 ISSA/INTERCLEAN North America in Dallas October 29 - November 1, 2018.

ISSA Recognizes Cleaning Industry’s Most Innovative Products and Services with 2017 Innovation Awards

The ISSA Innovation Award Program recognizes the cleaning industry’s most innovative products and services as voted on by cleaning-industry distributors, building service contractors, in-house service providers, and residential cleaners.

 

Entries are organized into five categories:

  • Cleaning Agents
  • Dispensers
  • Equipment
  • Services and Technology
  • Supplies and Accessories

The winners of the ISSA Innovation Category awards were announced September 11, during the ISSA Lunch and Learn session at ISSA/INTERCLEAN. Category awards are the result of online voting that took place the two months prior to the event. One winner from each category took home the illuminated trophy:

Irene Trujillo, Helping Hands Cleaning Services, Elmhurst, IL

Gosia Baran, owner of Helping Hands Maid Services in Elmhurst, IL, proudly nominated Trujillo for this award for going above and beyond time and again on the job. “Many times, she puts in 60 hours a week because we are in a bind with last minute calls, or to cover for someone who had to leave early,” Gosia said. “On one occasion, she even cancelled her vacation because we had too much work and not enough employees. What a commitment on her part!”

Chuck Terpstra, owner of The Cleaning Pros in Odessa, FL, finds Nikki’s presence at the company invaluable. “Nikki’s dedication and professionalism has helped The Cleaning Pros continue to grow financially and has helped each employee grow individually,” Chuck said. “Personally, she has grown from an office assistant three years ago to general manager today because of her hard work and determination. She is dedicated to make the Cleaning Pros both a financial success and a premier place to work.”

Rohan Gilkes Makes The Root 100

Congratulations to Rohan Gilkes for making The Root 100. The Root 100 is an annual list of the most influential African Americans, ages 25 to 45. They are recognized for being innovators, leaders, public figures and game changers whose work from the past year is breaking down barriers and paving the way for the next generation.

 

Rohan, co-founder, CEO at Innclusive, was honored as the “serial entrepreneur has created multiple million-dollar businesses, but Gilkes is best known for calling out Airbnb's lack of protections for travelers of color and founding Innclusive.”

 


 

Raleigh Cleaning Company Wins “Best of the Best” from Wake Forest Weekly

Raleigh Cleaning Company, Inc. recently won “the Best of the Best from Wake Forest Weekly for Best House Cleaning. This is the third straight win for Nina Fenwick’s company. “SO BLESSED to have such an amazing staff and set of clients,” Fenwick said on Facebook. “Thank you everyone who voted!
